How We Use AI
I asked AI to create a picture of Abraham Lincoln piloting a spaceship. AI can be scary, but not here. The use of AI to upscale and restore photos and video is helpful and exciting!
How does it work? With photos, AI scans the image to find problems like scratches, fading, or missing parts, and then automatically repairs them by filling in gaps, restoring colors, and sharpening details.
Let's see how it works using a photo of my great-grandfather, Chester, taken roughly 100 years ago.
That's pretty incredible, huh? Now, let's upscale the photo and zoom in!
Amazing! Do I look like him?
It's important to remember that AI is not doing anything here that a professional graphic designer can't do, but AI is doing it in a few minutes rather than many, many hours. This allows me to offer these services at an affordable rate.
Let's talk about AI and video. If you have footage in 720p and want to upscale it to 1080p, AI can do it with minimal loss of quality. Depending on the length of the footage, processing time can be lengthy.
Let's take a look at the video on the home page that was digitized from VHS. No upscaling or enhancements have been done.
Video restoration and enhancements with AI require a bit more skill than photo restoration. It's more important to select the best settings and AI model. Processing time can also be immense. Let's say a photo (a single frame) takes 5 minutes for AI to process. Footage from VHS is typically 24 frames per second. So if we have a 10 minute video clip digitized from VHS at 24 frames per second... 24x60x10 = 14,400 frames for AI to process.
Here's the same video from above with some video restoration and enhancements applied.
When you use our services to upscale or enhance your photos and video, you're getting a professional, efficient, and high-quality service that brings your old footage back to life. Unlike traditional methods, AI restoration is faster and more precise, preserving the integrity of your footage while enhancing its overall quality.
